Hello all,

Does anyone know how to make Unity (4.0) use more than 2-3 ports for MWI? I
have more than 3 ports configured in UTIM for MWI Dialout, but when I do a
MWI Resynch it still only uses up to 3 ports.. I'm not sure where else to
set this. The reason I ask is my MWI weirded out this morning and I had to
force it to resynch and its been going for 2 hours now.. watching it in the
part status monitor window and I think new change requests are just getting
queued up behind the resynch job.

Thanks!

I'm with you; I've seen this same behavior (only two MWI ports actually
used) and our MWI resynchs take about 6-7 hours for our 6000 subscribers.
It's really painful, and even if we schedule them to begin at midnight it's
still going when some users come in in the morning.

I am having a MWI issue which I working on with TAC at the meoment. We have only one port designated at the moment for MWI dial out notification and about 1400 users. Some users report that they get their MWI light to turn on but then there is no new me
ssage. Tac said we need to enable more MWI ports just for out bound MWI notification and to do this you go into nity tools under switch interface and click on the ports tab. then, select MWI and enabled just for the number of ports you want to dial out
for MWI notification.

I agree that this should work, but what we are saying is that enabling more
MWI ports does not do anything. Unity only seems to use 2 ports max no
matter how many are enabled.

I don't know which is harder, figuring out the IPCC Express licencing and naming or MWI.

I've seen plenty of times where MWI uses more than two ports. Problem is, it's never when we want.

In a vaguely related issue, this process also generates a ton of CDR
entries, basically two for each MWI resynch, which skews the results of
a simple peg count.

Yes - that surprised me when I created a beta cluster with a few phones and saw huge CDR entries. Because I have MWI integration, every MWI sync gets a CDR record on the beta cluster as well.

I agree with you Bill. I originally had 6 ports setup for MWI, but
increased it to 18 ports a week later. After looking through my event
logs for the scheduled MWI sync, it still took about 70 minutes for 600
users. I was expecting to cut the nightly job by a few minutes.

I posted a similar question on the cisco forums because Jeff Lindborg is
a great resource there. He said each MWI port has to go through each
person's Inbox, so depending on the size of each person's mailbox, it
could take a long time no matter how many ports we have setup. In my
situation, practically all my users have 2GB mailboxes with a majority
of them having over 10,000 items in the Inbox.

Is anyone on Unity 4.2 yet which supports up to 96 ports? I'd like to
hear if having 24 ports (25% MWI rule) makes a difference.

Lucky for me, I only only have about 600 subscribers and the midnight
resync is finished in about 5 minutes, but my call analysis still has to
account for MWI entries in CDR all day. One of those things you learn as
you go

Wes Sisk

set CM service parameter 'log calls with zero duration' to false and
MWI calls *SHOULD* be excluded.
