| Hi,
Having problem where phones will randomly reset for no apparrent reason out of the blue. The reason is deviceinitiatedreset and it isn't happening due to keepalives expiring, etc. The Last= reason in CCM detailed trace is Reset-Restart. These are on firmw
are 8.0(3) with 4.1(3)Sr3b. 7940 model phones. The status messages and debug trace page on phone is clean after this happens so is cleared out like it was really reset.

| You can take a look in the IIS logs on the CCM servers. You can see if
someone is actually reseting the devices, whether intentionally or not.
For example a reset of multiple devices will look like this:
2006-07-14 17:51:53 10.10.1.50 - 10.10.1.11 443 GET
/ccmadmin/_RemoteScripts/rs_device.asp

2006-07-14 17:51:53 10.10.1.50 administrator 10.10.1.11 443 GET
/ccmadmin/_RemoteScripts/rs_device.asp
_method=getMultiDeviceResetCount&_mtype=execute&pcount=2&p0=4&p1=%7BD70C
EF54-5493-4B9E-9F1A-17DB231F72BE%7D 200 0

Mozilla/4.0+(Windows+2000+5.0)+Java/1.5.0_04 -
A single device reset looks like this:
2006-07-14 17:55:42 10.10.1.50 administrator 10.10.1.11 443 GET
/ccmadmin/_RemoteScripts/rs_device.asp
_method=GetServerProxy&_mtype=execute&pcount=0 200 0
Mozilla/4.0+(Windows+2000+5.0)+Java/1.5.0_04 -
2006-07-14 17:55:45 10.10.1.50 administrator 10.10.1.11 443 GET

You can look in the IIS logs around the time of the reset for this.
One thing that may help is the source IP Address is listed (10.10.1.50
in this case). This may help track down the person who is reseting
these devices. Remember the times in the IIS traces are GMT not local
:-)

| Nope, checked the logs and not happening that way. Theres only 1-2 people with admin privs to ccmadmin and the phones sometimes reset in the early am hours.
Thanks for the IIS log bits though to look at.

| I am having the same problem with 7941 and 7961 phones. I am running
CME 4.0 and the phones connect to a linksys POE switch. I have cisco
doing an investigation on the phones I am sending in to find out why
they failed. I don't think it is the switch causing it, but will be
swapping it out just to make sure.
