I have never set-up VoIP on any link above 2Mb. I have found that even ona 2Mb link with about 5% utilization, before VoIP was added, without a LLQ to hold all the VoIP your voice quality will be poor.

But what happens when you get above 2Mb. You don't need cRTP but what about LLQ and LFI. Say you have an OC3 with 10% utilization before voice and you add in an an extra 20% VoIP on top. Will the voice not suffer without some form of prioritization ?

LFI and compression is not needed on larger pipes but
LLQ is still required with the same rules.

High-speed links (such as multiple T1/E1 or above
speeds) allow for the provisioning of Voice,
Interactive-Video, and multiple classes of data,
according to the design rules presented in this
chapter
(for example, 25 percent for Best Effort class and <
33 percent for all LLQs).
