Passing calls from CCM to Unity CallHandler

| Hi folks,
I'm curious how other people setup call handlers in CCM and Unity..
specifically how you route a call to an extension directly to a Unity Call
Handler. Is there a "Cisco Recommended" way to do this?
Right now i'm making hunt pilots and pointing them at the Unity lines and
then creating a call routing rule. In the past though I've used dumby phones
or CTI Route ports to forward to Unity. That seemed kinda clunky so I
started using the hunt pilots once I realized I could.

| We still use CTI route points. The reason we like it, is because they offer us a few things:
a.. multiple DNs per CTI route point allow us to create a CTI route point per group (department) and keep all the DNs in there.
b.. forwarding options allow us to redirect calls when we have to
We just upgraded to 4.1(3) so we really haven't explored using hunt groups. Problem is, we'd likely never get the resources to move them all over and rather than having two ways to do it, we'll just stick with one.

| Translation patterns is what I would recommend ,if you want a call to land
directly in Unity.

| With translations, you have to send them directly to a Unity port in order for them to work because it's as if the user dialed the number directly.
With CTI route points, because they are forwarded, Unity/CCM will remember the first redirected number and slap them into the appropriate voicemailbox/call handler.
Again, there's many ways to skin this cat.....
