All,

I would like to understand the default behaviour for QOS marking set by an
Ip phone for voice packets,In my scenario if dont have any qos settings
configured on the switch ,will the switch disregard/remove the marking set
by a cisco ipphone before passing them on next hop device,I ask this because
as I have configured CBWFQ with LLQ on my router but dont have any qos
settings on my switch where my phone connects ,I have not checked this out
with a sniffer just wanted to know if any one in the group knows about the
same.

Thanks for the help

Depends on the switch hardware and whether qos is enabled or not
globally on the switch.

The QOS SRND talks about this for the 6500 and 3550 switches (perhaps
others too).

ports or globaly.will the qos both layer 2 (COS) and layer 3 (DSCP ) be

Ryan,

On this topic...The QoS SRND has some very good information/scenarios
for configuring Cat 6500s for QoS. The problem is, there is multiple
scenarios and configuration samples for Cat OS, but 1 or 2 for Cat IOS.

Could you pass word along to the QoS SRND group that we would appreciate
more Cat 6500 IOS configuration samples?

Thanks

"When configured as an access layer switch, the recommended software
for the Supervisor is CatOS;
when configured as a distribution or core layer switch, the
recommended software is cisco IOS.
Furthermore, at the time of writing, Catalyst 6500 IOS does not yet
support AutoQoS nor the
conditional-trust feature, therefore only CatOS examples of these
models are given. However, both
AutoQoS VoIP and conditional trust have been committed for future
releases of Catalyst 6500 IOS."

I take this to mean a later version of the SRND may well have config
examples for IOS once the IOS is released that supports more of the
features.
