Cisco OS 2000.4-3 OS Upgrade
|
|
| Erick Bergquist 2007-01-30, 1:11 am |
| Does anyone know where the main 2000.4-3 update file went on CCO downloads page? I could have sworn I downloaded it a few weeks ago for a system. Now it isn't there.
Thanks, Erick

| The file win-OS-Upgrade-K9.2000-4-4.exe has been taken off of CCO due to
bug CSCsh47276.

Perhaps 4.3 was removed for a similar problem. Neither one being
removed is a nice thing since support for 4.x OS versions below 4.4 are
supposed to end towards the end of March.

| Ahh... thanks. I'll check that out. Just was looking for it for the DST updates and wanted to go to latest since need to update. Guess I'll stick with the 4.2sr15 for now.

| I've seen it in multiple places, but the one I see most often is the
Cisco IP Telephony Operating System, SQL Server, Security Updates page
at:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td...allmg/osbios.ht
m
Next to the 4-2 and 4-3a upgrade files it says support ends 20-Mar-2007
As for 4-3 being pulled for a bug, that was just a guess. I saw a few
bugs posted on the 4-3 upgrade with certain IBM servers, but they all
had workarounds.

| 2000.4.3a was not removed from CCO. These OS releases are moved to the
archive once a new release hits CCO. Click the second link on the
CallManager & Voice Apps Crypto Software page, "CallManager & Voice Apps

| Ok, so is there an ETA that a fixed 2000.4-4 OS Upgrade version will be available for download again, or do we upgrade to an archived version?

| I was in the same panic you were about 4.3a and the 4.4 upgrade.
4.4 was pulled for at least one bug. CSCsh47276
My guess is that when they put 4.4 out there they moved 4.3a to the
archives section. But obviously they haven't moved 4.3a back into the
main directory since they pulled 4.4. They've just done a poor job of
documenting the fact that they pulled 4.4.
The answer I got from TAC was that they still are supporting 2.7OS now,
even though 4.2 and 4.3 are the recommended. So the "support ends March
2007" is more of a suggestion than a mandate. Plus to say that they are
stopping support in 8 weeks when there isn't even a working version of a
supported operating system isn't really enough lead time to force all
the CCM/CER/CallCenter/etc. users to change over.
I'd highly doubt cisco could even upgrade their own systems in that time
without devoting significant time to the upgrade.
Hope this information is helpful.
JM
