Well I am finally going to start my CCVP exams...

Helpful hints, studyguides preffered and any friendly advice appreciated.

Thought I would start with CVOICE and QOS first then IPT (4.x)...thoughts?

The standard order is:

CVOICE
QOS
CIPT
TUS (aka CIPTT)
GW/GK

As far as study sources, I think the cisco Press books are pretty decent...

The cisco Press QOS Exam Cert book is the best cisco Press book I have
ever read.

You will probably want to take the CIPT 5.X test, but either one
fulfills the requirement.

IMO practice tests are definitely the way to go, if you already familiar
with all the material. I had to do a little extra studying on the CCNA for
RIP and OSPF since we don't use those here where i work. I wasn't really
sure which test to take after that, I figured call manager (IPT4.x) was what
I had the most experience with. I tried it at networker's this year as my
freebie test and passed it. Just used practice exams and went back thru
callmanager docs to review the topics I found I was weak on.

Those are the only 2 i've done so far. I also have heard people start with
CVOICE, I think that is what i'm going to try to tackle next. The prep
seminar at networker's this year made it sound pretty basic.

GWGK looks like the worst one, but that is my weakest area I think, so ymmv.
Not sure about the new troubleshooting exam, I heard they changed that one
specifically to put something related to Unity on the CCVP track.

Hi,

The order in which we teach (and test) it is:
QOS
CVOICE
CIPT
GWGK
TUC

QOS has no voice in it (aside from basic understanding of jitter and such). CVOICE has QoS in it. TUC is the last one since troubleshooting contains all the others.

I'd recommend CIPT 5.x (currently 4.x is allowed as well) since TUC require callmanager 5.x knowledge.

The fastest way would be a two weeks bootcamp, but if not then I'd recommend the cisco press books.

HTH,

Are you looking for understanding or a Cert. if your just looking for the
Cert. I would use a test practice like pass 4 sure.

if your looking for the training A boot camp would be good.

I started with what I was strong on. CIPT. I just went through the blue
print and read the white pages on what I was weak on..... ie. IPMA, AAR,
etc.

depending on your level of comfort and weather your looking for training or
cert, you might look at the CCIE bootcamp.

To be honest, the CCM tests were a joke if you have ever deployed one.

The Cvoice test is pretty basic too.

The QoS test is basically just CBWFQ...

The GW/GK is the only challenging once cuz most people don't touch GKs...

Agreed the CVOICE was definitely a walk in the park.

I'm planning on the rest of the tests in the following order:
GWGK - shouldn't be too hard provided you have experience with both
gateways and gatekeers (as has been mentioned, a lot of people don't
touch the latter)
CIPT - also should be easy if you've done a CM deployment or use CM a lot
QOS - my weak spot by far
TUC - My thought is to do this last same as doing the CCNP
troubleshooting exam last, since it somewhat covers all the other exams
at the same time.

Actually, the way it is tested on the GWGK exam, a lot of people
haven't touched gateways, either.

I thought it was going to be an MGCP/H.323 exam, but it wasn't. It is
about the relationship between gateways and gatekeepers (if you know
about Gatekeepers, you will know what I am talking about...)

I did the GW GK exam couple of weeks back and the entire exam is based on
Cisco Voice GW and GK cisco press book, exam is easy if you go through book
, it does have couple of simulations where you need to configure zones on
the Gk , but the book does cover a lot of stuff, Overall I didnt find the
exam that tuff.

Unicast me if you need more help regarding GW GK.
