I need to insert a script in my initial call greeting that returns an
approximate wait time for the caller to be on hold - either a time or
something that states there are x calls in the queue before the caller.
Can anyone help me out with it?

You could use a "get reporting statistic" and use field "position in
queue" they you can play a prompt that says you have X people queued
ahead of you.
