My fear is that I am going to blow up the pub...

| My transaction log file (CCM0305_log.LDF) is 26 MB only. This is because
BARS works and automatically truncates DB every morning. In your
situation I would first shrink DB and then fix BARS which could work
after shrinking anyway. If any doubt you could mirror the publisher hard
drive before manual shrinking.

production. Also be ready to let it run for a while.

the log file was only 15MB...
Cool enough.
Thanks.

| Ryan,
Why doesn't the documentation specify that CDR DB
shrinking is supported for 3.x AND GREATER removing
ambiguity? Those two words right there would have
saved Johnathan a bit of time I'd surmise. If you
could fix this somehow, I'd appreciate it much.
Sincerely,
Paul

| I honestly have no idea. The doc shows it was updated on 12/06 so
it's not out of date.
Please feel free to leave comments on the "Feedback: Help us help
you" section of any doc you feel is incorrect or out of date.
Supposedly people somewhere really do read those.

| Actually, the page says for 3.x and 4.x... but it seemed to imply 4.0 and
not 4.1 (it was late, my ability to distinguish reality was quasi
non-existent)...
But, I read 'backup' and saw that we didn't have enough space to backup that
log (with no possibility for pointing to a network drive if you ran a SQL
Maintenance plan), and had this vision of me killing the CallManager Pub for
a very twitchy client...
I am a big fan of safe...
Also, the cisco Forums had no reference to a hard drive space concern
regarding these commands... Which led me to believe two contradictory
outcomes... first, that it was entirely safe... and second, the server would
blow up.
I finally ran it when one of my coworkers said he would take the blame if it
blew it up... ran it, no probs, everything cool...
At the end of the day, everything was cool... I was just more paranoid than
I usually am (getting older...)

| I think a note that even if you have no hard drive space, this is safe,
would be a cool addition... same goes for the Unity page (for the same
issue, different box)...
