I have a 2801 with 2 POTS lines. (let's say 555-1212 and 555-1313)

1212 is the main line for this building, so we are not getting Caller ID.
What's the easier solution? Map 555-1212 to the PRI and somehow tell CCM
where to route it,
or reconfigure the 2801 to do Caller ID?

I actually prefer to move 1212 to the PRI, but wouldn't know where to start
(other than to call my phone company and tell them to do it)!

On the outbound is easy, just change the mask on the DN.

On the inbound you must engage your provider to have them port the number to
the pri

Yeah, my provider can port the number real easy.
My question is, what do I have to do in CCM or Unity to route 1212 as it
comes in on the PRI to the proper phone??

Nothing.

As long as the extension exists, and the PRI is under some form of
CallManager control (or there is a voip dial-peer to CCM), you don't need to
do anything.

you need to do nothing if the Provider is sending only the 4 digit number 1212 but if the provider is sending the whole number 5551212 you have to strip the 555 from the number in order to route to the phone... you can do that using translation pattern. but most commonly the provider will send u the 4 digits only, they do this here in Egypt I dont know what about yours.

Thanks and Best Regards

technically, the inbound CSS on your PRI gateway must contain the partition
where you configure DN 1212.

It probably already does, if he currently gets calls on that PRI...

You don't even need to do that... Just specify 4-digits on the PRI page in
CCM...

Or, in an H.323 peer, specify 555.... in the destination pattern, forward
digits 4...

Well we do get calls on the PRI from the outside world. So I will look at
the Call Route pattern and PRI pages on CCM, see if I can figure it out!
(This is not a DID number, although we do have those as well coming in on
the PRI. As an example, let's say my DIDs start with 666, so 666-1000 comes
in on the PRI, and rings extension 1000 internally. With this number I want
to route, that's not the case. The first three digits are 555, so I need to
take a number that normally lands at Building C, and have the phone company
plop it on the PRI, and then I need to intercept it on the PRI, and ring
extension 3100 at Building C).
