ethernet extenders + 802.1q + ip phone w/ PC

| Is anyone out there using ethernet extenders that support 802.1q to support a phone and pc?
Care to share some experiences?
We're looking at providing service to some outlying areas and our option is an analog phone -or- an ethernet extender. The cost of the few extenders we would have to purchase would likely outweigh the cost of the one vg224 we would have to buy, so cost at this point is not an issue - especially because of the extra service, i.e. data. These users would have had to use dialup over the analog line for their data. yuck.

| If possible, I would suggest using two pairs of extenders. Use one pair
for voice and another for data. That would at least keep them separated
and help out from an administrative point of view.

| Perhaps not. It would eliminate the need for 802.1q supporting
extenders which should cut the costs quite a bit. How many users are
you trying to support? I am assuming a small office/10-15 users?

| Ah - I see what you mean. These would be for small offices of 1 or two people each. I'll have to spec out the cost. I saw a couple of Pattons for 700 bucks list for the pair.
