Hi all

has anyone experience upgrading CRSs from 3.5 to 4.0(5a).

I tried it this weekend following the instructions in the cisco Customer
Response Solutions 4.0(5a) Installation Guide (Backup CRS 3.5 / Reimage Server
/ Install CRS 4.0(5a), Restore, Migrate)
It worked well for the first Server.
But I can't restore the second. The backup works fine and ends successful. The
installation of the new CRS files complete without problem. However, if I try
to restore the data from BARS the restore fails after 68% with an LDAP Error.

I made for each CRS a new LDAP Cluster Profile, perhaps this is wrong and I have
to use the same profile for the first and the second server.

Or is it easier to run a new / clean set up for the second CRS.

Any help is appreciated.

I have done this before... although it was to 4.0(4) the only problem I
had (took 38 hrs to fix) Was a problem with the global.csv file, when
importing it into the new slapd there was a blank space where the extn
number was meant to be. This caused major problems with the restore.

Have you modified the Global.csv file, the global address book for the
IPCC Agents?

I had 2 servers and created a separate LDAP profile for each.

We up-grade our second server via mirroring which is not supported by Cisco. it worked out fine. The server are the same type HP7845H1. I don't know if works in different type of servers. Also we did not buy the Hot Standby License we are going to keep it as cold standby server.
Here is the procedure. Confirm first how the drives are mirrored. since TAC does not supported, Just understand the possible risk.

To be honest, I have had so many problems upgrading CRA between major
versions, that I stopped trying.

What I basically do is go in, backup the scripts and prompts, get
screen shots of all applications, resource groups, skills, etc. and
then install CRS 4.0 clean... I then bring the data back into CRS
(open each script with the new CRS editor to convert them first), and
manually recreate everything else.

Depending on complexity, this usually takes about 4-6 hours for the
backup and four to six hours for the installation and restoration of
data.

It isn't pretty, but it has the benefit of working 100% of the time
and is usually faster than the 12 hour TAC case to unscrew an upgrade
(if you can get it to work).

BTW, you do lose historical data here, so I would recommend running
all the reports you want on it.
