Unity Server Update Wizard
|
|
| STEVEN CASPER 2007-06-27, 1:11 pm |
| The Unity Server Upgrade Wizard doc states that it is designed to work on a server which has at least one of the below mentioned installed on the server.
- cisco Unity
- cisco Unity Voice Recognition
- cisco Unity Connection
- cisco Unity Connection Voice Recognition
- cisco Unity Bridge
I ran it on a lab Unity voicemail only Exchange server and it worked fine. I am thinking about trying it in production. Since this is a voice mail only message store server and the Exchange software was purchased from cisco I expect to be able to do this.
I was told cisco would support my entire Unity environment including the message store portion.
Any thoughts? All it looks like it is doing is running a Microsoft patch script.
Thanks!,

Cisco will supposedly release every month.

| Guess it depends on your definition of wizard, it is a wizard to whoever named it at Cisco. Still it is better than what cisco was providing prior to it's release.

| It's definitely a wizard similar to the cisco OS SRs patches. In my opinion
it was a good move on Cisco's part as it really makes it easy to patch Unity
boxes. Which is really good for telecom admin's who may not keep up with
the various patches released for windows server, exchange, and sql.
You run the wizard and it checks to see if you have any of the above
software installed and patches them accordingly.

| Plus the fact that supposably cisco has tested these patches for comparability with Unity. This bring me back to my original point/question - these patches also had to be tested with Exchange to support installs with Unity and Exchange on the same server
so I am thinking there is no reason the Wizard could not be used to patch standalone Exchange servers used for Voice Mail only Unity integrations.
