OK, trying to install 2000.4.4 on a HP DL380 G5. I keep getting the error:

Drive Count Fatal Error
The installation was unable to retrieve needed drive information
Error Code:1

The server is brand new out of the box from HP and has the required 4 72 GB hard drives. Tried another new G5 and am getting the same error. Wondering if I have to do something with the arrays?

Well that would be because the G5 servers are not supported until
2000.4.5 or 2003.1.2... 2000.4.5 should release later this month.:

Isn't that a little late for the OS release, since HP doesn't sell the
G4s anymore?

Good to know, though, because we have a couple G5s in the warehouse
ready to be unpacked -- might as well wait a little on that.

It takes time to test etc... This is why we put the disclaimer on the
page that provided the OEM spec., if someone reads the spec. they should
also be reading the wording around it.

Well that would be a DL320 G5. I am using the the DL380 G5.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products...0080107d79.html

HP DL380-G5 Server with Dual Xeon 5140 2.33-GHz Processor

The DL380-G5, which requires cisco Windows OS 2000.4.4 or cisco Unified Communications Manager 5.1.1(b), is a robust server solution designed for cisco Unified Communications software applications. Up to 7500 cisco Unified IP phones can be supported on a
single server running cisco CallManager 3.3 or greater. The required processors are dual Intel Xeon 5140 2.33-GHz processors. No specific memory configuration is required as long as 4 GB of memory is achieved. The scheduled ship date for cisco Windows OS
2000.4.4 is December 12, 2006, and that for cisco Unified Communications Manager 5.1.1(b) is February 7, 2007. The scheduled ship date for cisco Unified CallManager 6.0.1 is June 29, 2007 and will remain on new product hold until July 23, 2007. This serve
r does not support cisco Unified CallManager 5.0. This server is the configuration equivalent of the cisco MCS 7845-H2.

Well hello Reto,

Thank you for the suggestion but I tried that and every other array config I could come up with. A post on CCO Forum suggested that I do a system erase from the Smart Start CD. Sounds like a good thing to try Monday.

Anyway you also have a good weekend!

Hello Caspar

we just set up a DL380 G5 with OS 2000.4.4 from CD. I also had a problem
with the Drives in the beginning. I deleted the RAID configuration at
startup (F8) and configured two RAID 1. 1/2 and Disk 3/4. After that the OS
installed without any problem.

Try it
Have a nice weekend

A system reset is a good thing in this case.

When I upgraded ipccx from 3.0 to 3.5 I couldn't get the OS back on it
until I did a system reset. Could very well take care of the issue.
