Hello all;

Is there is an option to install cisco Callmanager from scratch without
using a monitor or a keyboard, just from my laptop. Can this be done?

Regards,

Ahmed Elnagar

But seems it is not supported for the 4.x train, what about the ILO port
on HP servers, could it help in this??

I have installed CCM and Unity completely thru VNC...

The Unity install thru ILO has failed in the past... (Cisco pointed to
it being because of ILO, but I didn't believe it).

Yes I know the VNC could solve the application part (CallManager or
Unity). But what I need is the operating system part, I face this
problem in sites when I have to reinstall everything and I don't have a
screen and a keyboard nearby (strange situation I know but I faced it)

It isn't strange at all... a lot of people don't have KVM connected to
their CCMs...

Your only real option is ILO (or whatever IBM equivalent there is) or
to get a KVM hooked up for OS and then install VNC and go from there.

I'd find it hard to believe, the only potential oddity about ilo is the
media redirection pretends to be a USB cd/floppy drive which might be a
problem though I can't say I've had any problems installing any using
it, you could of course put the CD in the server's physical drive and
just use the ILO for keyboard video and mouse.

On that note, I'd just like to say

STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM AVOCENT!

We installed an IP-KVM and everytime we'd try to
remotely administer the CCM/Unity/CRS boxen attached
to them, random weird crap would happen. The KVM would
turn the power off or reboot the boxes. Beware of
avocent. Their support sucks eggs too unless you're
willing to buy into their "installation support scam"
for several thousands of dollars.
