I am looking for an application that can help my operations staff provision
phones and maintain a phone inventory with more descriptive fields than can
be stored in CCM.

If there is no such app, then maybe just a phone inventory database.

Any ideas?

Try the cisco Voice Provisioning Tool. Not sure if it does inventory,
but it does allow a single interface and multiple search options.

One thing to remember is that VPT doesn't work if you're active
directory integrated. Looks like a cool product otherwise.

That said, I've yet to see anyone using it

Also - depending on your programming ability (or ability to snag a
programmer to assist) it would be possible to write your own app that
stores additional info in your own DB and tie it in w/ CM via the AXL
interface.

Or just keep a separate database updated. Possibly do an export of the
CCM03xx database daily to an auxiliary machine and use the existing
data/primary keys to tie in your own tables.

This link works better for most of us:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer...data_sheet0900a
ecd80313abd.html

but the inventory part is the most important part. I need to know more
about my phones than we can input into CCM. Information like Serial Number,
User name, Department, Building and office/cube, Location, Jack number,
Extension(s), Charge number, etc.
