Hello,

Has anyone here done a successfull Unity 4.x - 5.x integration ?

If so my question is VM only upgrade, can I use exmerge to backup the VM and
just import it back into Unity 5.x VM using exmerge again when I have the
same users ?

>From what I've heard it's like CallManager 2.x to 4.x upgrade! I would
use Unity Subscriber Information Dump to CSV file and build new Unity5x
on new hardware and tell them they have to re-run enrollment and write
down any important voicemails. Create a new VM Profile and Pilot and
Ports, then cutover to new VM using BAT to change VM profile.

naw....Unity upgrade from 4.x to 5.x can be easy. High level overview
for 4.2.1 to 5.x is below, obviously more steps required to upgrade
older versions.

1) Run schema extension on your AD
2) rerun perm wizard
3) upgrade application

The big hassle comes if you are also upgrading from w2k to w2k3. In
this case, you will be formating but can use dirt to backup and
restore from your current 4.x version and once you are on w2k3 you can
upgrade to 5.x.

I just did it this past weekend...

Cust had 4.04, I upgraded them on-box to 4.2.1, then DRT backup
(including messages), blew it away, installed Win2K3, Exchange3K3,
SQL, reinstalled 4.2.1 restored backup and upgraded to 5...

Worked fine.
