CPU usage per connection

We are running a couple of instances of WAS on our mainframe. The
performance tech notices that the WAS running our HATS apps uses about 3%
CPU even when we don't have any users on. The other WASs use close to 0
when no one is on. I'm guessing this CPU usage is due to our connection
pools. We probably have 100 to 200 connections across all the apps. Does
anyone have any experience with this. Do you know what's going on CPU wise,
even when we're idle, can the 3% be just from polling the connections?
