Hi all.

I'm just about at my wits end here (not much of a trip, really).

In HATS 6, how can I set a global variable in a macro "variable update"
action? From the doco, I believe it should be fairly simple. But the only
way I can avoid crashing the macro is to create the variable locally.

I've tried all sorts of things, but at the moment I am creating the variable
via a "Set global variable" action in the Connect event, as suggested in the
doco. I can display the value in a screen transformation to verify the
value, but just can't seem to work out how to access it within a macro. The
doco doesn't seem to do much but hint that it's possible.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I've just discovered the earlier post, from Keith Manning, back in November
2004. Sounds helpful, and I'll look into it further. But is there actually
any way to get things to work through the IDE, rather than writing your own
code all the time?

I mean, surely I should be able to create a variable-update action from the
"advanced" macro editor, and have it work? Is that too much to ask?

Also, how would I write a conditional action based on the value of a global
variable?
