You can receive notification email from JIRA by creating a filter and
subscribing to receive the filter results at a frequency of your choice.

Start at the Manage Filters page. One way to get there is to click
Filters in the small text navbar on the upper right of every page, then
click the "here" link on the pop-up window. In the left pane, click New
from the Filter menu. Select the filter attributes you want. If you
want to be notified of recently created or updated issues, select a time
period in the Created In Previous and/or Updated In Previous drop-down
boxes. When you are finished, click View>>. If you are satisfied with
the filter, click the Save link. Give the filter a name and optional
description and click the Save button. Then, in the left pane, click
Subscriptions. Click Add Subscriptions. Enter a period to specify how
often you wish to be notified and click Subscribe.
