FYI, JPOX also supports Enums. adapted from docs:

A java.lang.Enum field is by default serialized into one column. It can also be
stored in VARCHAR or INTEGER data types via the "Java5" plugin. It's queryable
if stored in VARCHAR or INTEGER columns.
