| Change SQL datatype of Date fields from VARCHAR to TIMESTAMP
------------------------------------------------------------
Key: JDO-480
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JDO-480
Project: JDO
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: tck2
Reporter: Michelle Caisse
Assigned To: Michelle Caisse
Priority: Minor
Fix For: JDO 2 maintenance release 1
The Date fields in the company model are currently mapped to columns of type VARCHAR(32). It is better practice to use a TIMESTAMP column for these fields. The affected columns are companies.FOUNDEDDATE, and BIRTHDATE, and HIREDATE in persons, employees
, parttimeemployees, and/of fulltimeemployees tables.
Note that there is a regression in the current JPOX SNAPSHOT that causes all of the company model CompletenessTest tests to fail with a 12 hour difference between actual and expected Dates in these fields. The affected tests are invoked with the src/conf
/company*.conf configuration files. These tests pass with the current schema (VARCHAR(32) columns) on JPOX 1.1.7. After this change is checked in, these tests will pass on the JPOX SNAPSHOT.
