They could only do that if they were aware of the existence of the
line and its number. I'd remove the master socket, and conceal the
remnants of the wiring in such a way that nobody would even know it
was there. Then take up the option to receive paperless bills via the
internet, so no postal mail from BT would arrive at the house.
