I'm having issues with the codecs on JD VoIP.

It keeps using G723 for calls, but i don't want it too!

If i disable G723 and set to use only G711a for calls, its fine for
outgoing calls, but incoming ones dont work.

Anyone help?

Yup. I posted here about this back in July.

I had the same problem, except it was mainly selecting G.729 - leading
to terrible quality (volume and distortion) for most i/c calls. In
the worst cases, I simply couldn't hear anything remotely intelligible
and had to call people back on my PSTN line.

The system logs show a SIP/488 "Not acceptable here" message if I
remove G.729.

Whatever I tried I couldn't fix it, so I have taken my custom
elsewhere. I do wonder if it is simply JDV being mean with their
bandwidth to save money.

I cancelled my account due to the poor call quality too - not much point
having free calls if you can't hear anyone properly...

In a Sipura ATA set the following:

Preferred Codec: G711u
Use Pref Codec Only: No
G729a Enable: No
G723 Enable: Yes
G726-16 Enable: No
G726-32 Enable: No
G726-40 Enable: No

Works fine.

Nothing to do with JDVoIP. It's your set up. Get that right and the
quality is fine.

Not for me. Calls from my work PBX are inaudible.

I disagree. Having changed provider and nothing else, calls from my
office now connect using G.711 and sound fine.

Then you had the settings for JDVoIP set wrongly. If set according to
their instructions, all works fine.

Have you also got:

I think they only support Grandstream486. With those settings and the
help of some-one on this group I got the Sipura working.

Best of luck.

Both their PC Client and a SPA-2100 failed to work as you describe.

Well a very polite man has been calling on my mobile to get information
to investigate further.

Think they tried again a little earlier, but the o2 network (my mobile
is on, and wont be for long) has been having major problems today, so he
may have had problems getting through!
