I know there are alot of online resources but sometimes I want to read a

Phil,

it depends, on what angle you see that.
In my point of view it's the best you can get until O'Reilly will publish
their new ones.

it probably is, I'm just not sure its good but like you say that's an
opinion.

The whole chapter devoted to a particluar cisco VoIP phone could IMO
have usefully been replaced with a really simple example configuration
"how to".

After reading the book I didn't feel I could setup a single VoIP phone
on an Asterisk system connecting to a single provider. The online
resources were better.

Given how shockingly badly written and incomplete voip-info.org is,
that's pretty damning of the book.

The ORA book looks to be well-written, although the sample chapter and
table of contents suggest it's more of an introductory text to get a
basic PBX going rather than anything advanced and interesting.

I would have loved to have had the ORA about 18 months ago when I
first started playing with Asterisk.

voip-info is only as good as the info people submit to it. And dont forget
for a lot of writers English is not their first language. Personally I found
it very useful at the start and now I try to add to it when I sort out a
problem that is not listed.

Which is the problem with the signate book.

My problem with mst books is that they are either aimed at new users or out
of date. That said the only ORA book that doesnt fit that description is
"Unix in a nutshell" I stell use my 9 year old copy on a weekly basis

Totaly Agree, you're right.
In the original case i guess the questioner needs something to store under
his pillow.

Take care.
