| Is there such a thing available?
We have an door entry thing on our back gate (Where visitors come to if they
know us)
It would be nice if it could ring the phones in the house with a distinctive
ring if possible - any ideas!?
Even if it didn't ring, but just rang the phones, that would do!

I have tried a friedland one (The long range version) and it was utterly
useless!
I think the Dect phones and the three WiFi access points may be causing it
grief!
It world work when I was testing it, but as soon as it had been in for a
couple of days, it would require repeated depresses on either of the push
buttons to activate eater of the chimes inside (I had one on the front door,
and one on the back gate, you can set the pushes to send two different
chimes, ding dong, or ding dong ding dong so you know what one had been
pushed!)

My PABX has the capability, but the expansion card required costs an arm
and a leg, easier to fit an ordinary doorbell..!!

Surely it wouldn't be too difficult to rig up something with a serial
port, a relay and a separate outdoor circuit.
I could manage the port handling stuff but I'm buggered if I know how to
write a module to interface with asterisk. (never looked into it).
I'd be very surprised if this hasn't been done before.

I reckon it could be done with a wrt54g with the serial port mod, linking to
the bell and gate opening electronics. This would obviously then need a
further modification of one of the modified linux firmwares for the wrt54g.
Perhaps more complex than what you want! Don't think I could actually manage
it myself.
