| I have asterisk@home box running fine almost, i require email notifications
of voicemail, i have edited the /etc/hosts file to include my dyndns.org
FQDN, is this ok for this purpose?
I cannot send mail at all, i dont know what is going wrong i can ping wan
adxdresses so net connection not prob. I have a dynamic ip on my router,
will this cause a problem? I dont see how as i have ran windows mail
servers witha dynamic ip.
I seen somewhere that asterisk requires a mail server installed, doesnt this
not come with asterisk@home already? if not that is the only thing i am
missing that maybe causing a problem, i just do not know.

Log into your box as root.
Type hostname your-dyndns-address
press return
You will need to do this everytime you reboot, but it will fix your problem.
Or suss out how to change the hostname permanently.........perhaps someone
else will be along shortly.

I think what is happening is that the A@A box is getting the public
records for yourname.dyndns.org and trying to deliver mail to the
public IP of the router which is failing. The best bet is to probably
add yourname.dyndns.org to /etc/hosts with the internal IP of your
mail server, however, depending on which MTA is used to send mail, it
may not look at that file, and you may have to include a statement in
the MTA to send all outgoing mail to the internal IP of the mailserver
- think /var/qmail/control/smtproutes for Qmail.
