VOXALOT - service prov registered but...
|
|
|
|
Hi
I've created my Voxalot account and put 2 providers. One for outgoing
(Voipdiscount.com) second for incoming calls.
The socond one is a local (polish) provider who gave me a phone no.
On the voxalot that second prov status is shown as "Registered". Using
smart call (dial plans) I can switch between the prov, to make a
connection and it works on both. But when I dial my pho no. which I was
given by the 2 prov, the signal is like I was not registered... even
when the voxalot status shows that I am.
Any ideas what to do?
I use Linksys RTP300 as my gateway.
Gak.

Did you pay Voxalot for a single registration?

But unfortunately for the most part incompatible with Betamax services.
I used MySIPSwitch for a while - no complaints at all with their service -
but after getting nowhere trying to get it to work with Voipcheap.com I
set up my own Trixbox machine.

What do you mean by 'the signal is like I was not registered'?
If you weren't registered then, usually, your call would be received
by the provider's voicemail system.
Have you checked out your Polish provider set up before registering on
Voxalot? You could unregister and try that. If that fails then try
contacting your SIP number (as distinct from your PSTN access number).
To do this check out the Sipbroker listings and see if your Polish
provider is listed. From that you can get the access code and dial via
Sipbroker, from Voxalot or a Sipbroker PSTN access number, into your
Polish SIP number directly - thereby separating it from the Polish
PSTN number. That might tell you whether you have a problem with the
Polish provider SIP or the Polish PSTN number.
Sipbroker access codes:
http://tinyurl.com/379b43
You can access PSTN access from there also via the menu.

If it is shown as 'registered' then he must have paid.
If you try to register a provider and have not paid there is
notification.

I suppose what I was alluding to, is what might happen
if the O/G provider account tried to register as well,
would it de-register the I/C account?

I got it working with Voipcheap too, i even can let VoipBuster ring out
to a cellphone number via MySIPSwitch, but i recently did hear, that the
300 min. limit gets screwed up through the same IP "bug"? don't know if
this done intentional by these betamax providers, or a "system" bug ...

I've got mine working with three outgoing routes (VoipCheap, Tesco, Ekiga)
and two inbound routes (Tesco and Ekiga), with the Tesco number
authenticated as a caller-ID number for VoipCheap. I've not played with
Asterisk on a WRT54, my router is a Netgear DG834GT with the 1.02.09-based
UberGT firmware. The feature limits are basically what the little machine
is capable of (it's an old 500MHz Thinkpad), and whatever FreePBX's limits
are.

Ah. Netgear... recently i bought the DM111p DSL modem, because it has no
build in router, i already configured it for my (DSL) provider, but when
i put later my SPA3102 (ATA) before it, it just isn't going to work, for
making phone calls... Netgear (in my modem's case) is using some sort
detection method to get "set"... how should i proceed to let my SPA3102
do the DHCP... QoS "work" ? i get the impression i should do things in a
certain order.... TIA

That is not a bug, just part of Betamax policy. No more than 300 min of
freecalls per week per unique IP, it says it clearly on the first page of
the website. When you choose to call through a privider like MySIPSwitch you
must realise that for the Betamax-proxy you will have the same IP as all
other MySIPSwitch users, so these 300 minutes per week are gone pretty fast
:-)
The reason the problem does not occur with Voxalot is because Voxalot made a
special arrangement with Betamax to pass on the original caller IP in the
SIP-headers towards Betamax.

I'm struggling to work out what you're trying to say there. But, if I've
got this right your DSL modem presets a single connection for a computer
or other networked device. If it's Ethernet, what IP address range does
your computer/device get? If it's in the 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x or
172.16-31.x.x range then your DSL modem is being a single-port router (my
old router was one of these) so you'd need to configure port forwarding.
For Trixbox I had to forward in UDP ports 5060 and 10000-19999.
A useful side-effect of this is that my laptop running the Ekiga softphone
can log into my Trixbox machine from a remote connection, and I have
trixbox configured to ring all connected extensions when an incoming call
arrives.

What happens is that Voxalot acts as an approximate equivalent to an
ATA but with voicemail facilities.

I am not clear in exactly what you want to do but my advice would be
to use the SPA-3102 with a static IP. Set the Gateway and Primary DNS
to be the same as the IP of the router. I set one up for a friend of
mine in this way working with a Netgear WGR614.
With regard to QoS, found that, when operating a Fritzbox 7140, with
an SPA-3000 connected to it, the Fritzbox automatically applied QoS
during a call via the SPA-3000. This was evident by the slow download,
to my PC, while on a call. It might be that your router will do the
same.

According to http://www.mysipswitch.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=227
it should now work with MySipSwitch.com as well.
