BT stopping talk on 3rd party adaptors

I Have just read on another forum that BT have recently done some
changes to stop devices other than the home hub or supplied voyager
routers from logging in to the broadband talk service, this could be
why my linksys has recently failed to log in.
Has anyone else heard of this or experienced it?
