I have two desktops (Win XP) wired to a router, plus on laptop (Win XP
Pro) wirelessly connected to the same router. In addition, I have a
DSL modem connected (wired) to said router.

The two desktops are able to connect to the internet and share files
and print from the same printer. The laptop can "see" the network, but
won't connect to the internet or share files and printers with the
desktops.

By saying the laptop can "see" the network I mean that the wireless
icon pops up in the systray with the correct name of the network,
NOWIRES in this case. However, when I check the network neighborhood
from the laptop it can only see itself.

I've run the network connection wizard countless times, choosing every
imaginable combination of settings I can think of, yet am still having
issues that have pushed me to the brink of cyber-homicide. At one
point everything worked correctly, but the lap top hard drive crashed
and after I replaced it I haven't gotten things to work.

I appreciate anyones help.

Not sure, but this isn't the appropriate group. Don't know which is the
right one, but in the telecom groups uk.telecom.broadband might be worth a
try.

Have you got matching usernames & passwords on all machines? Are all
machines in the same workgroup?

Log in to the router and look at the security page for the wireless
network. You need to match these settings and passphrases in the
laptop when you try to connect.

Could also be a firewall issue, especially if you are using a work computer.

You need to first check whether you are getting an IP address. If you are,
but cannot access the network, then you need to check your firewall logs.

Highly unlikely though, seems a bit of a backwards operation that one,
stop all outgoing requests.

One step at a time.
