I actually wanted to focus on this: I'm really proud of the AOLserver
Community and its ability to discuss things, especially those of a
technical nature, while maintaining a high level of respectability and
decorum. It's highly unusual for a conversation on the mailing list to
degenerate into a flame-war or ad hominem attacks which are so common in
online forums, especially tech-centric ones.
This doesn't mean that those involved aren't just as invested or as
passionate about the subjects being discussed, but I think we're all
able to openly discuss and learn from each other here, and that's
incredibly valuable to me, and I imagine others who also follow the
threads here.
Thanks,
-- Dossy

| Firstly I would like to second Dossy on the quality of the aolserver
community. In addition I would like to say that one of the biggest
reasons why the aolserver community has life in 2006 and is of such a
high calibre is because of Dossy himself.
I also want to say that I was joking in the comment quoted below. Weak
technology (especially expensive weak technology) gets me a little hot
under the collar sometimes but I don't think there was any real
"flaming" going on. I was reminiscing about a time when usenet meant
an athena-lib X11 client on a monochrome screen at university (a
really *big* monochrome screen mind you) more than I actually thought
that real flaming was going on.
That said the conversation did get a little off topic and I hereforth
promise not to say anything too negative about Sybase on this mailing
list again!
Regards,
Mar Aufflick.
