Hi everybody!

This is my first message at these list so first of all thank you for a=20
great product. I've been using Aolserver for 3 years and it is a great=20
web server.

My setup: Aolserver 4.0.10, Tcl 8.4 and Openacs
My problem:
Aolserver began to show my HTTP 500 errors
I tried to reboot and error is:
" Error: Can't find a usable init.tcl in the following directories:
/usr/local/lib/tcl8.4 /usr/local/aolserver/lib/tcl8.4=20
/usr/local/lib/tcl8.4 /usr/local/aolserver/library /usr/local/library=20
/usr/local/tcl8.4.12/library /usr/tcl8.4.12/library /usr/local/lib/tcl8.4

This probably means that Tcl wasn't installed properly.

Can't find a usable init.tcl in the following directories:
/usr/local/lib/tcl8.4 /usr/local/aolserver/lib/tcl8.4=20
/usr/local/lib/tcl8.4 /usr/local/aolserver/library /usr/local/library=20
/usr/local/tcl8.4.12/library /usr/tcl8.4.12/library /usr/local/lib/tcl8.4

This probably means that Tcl wasn't installed properly.

while executing
"error $msg"
(procedure "tclInit" line 42)
invoked from within
"tclInit"

"

And the command "find /usr/local -name init.tcl" said:

"
/usr/local/lib/tcl8.4/init.tcl
/usr/local/aolserver-4.0.10/bin/init.tcl
/usr/local/aolserver-4.0.10/modules/tcl/nsperm/init.tcl
/usr/local/aolserver-4.0.10/modules/tcl/init.tcl
"

So aolserver didn't find init.tcl but it exist.

Everything was working fine. At that time, I was trying to intall MRTG=20
to monitor my server and I'd like to show HTML statistics in Aolserver=20
/log directory). It could be a problem with some command but I had=20
reviews my bash history and everything is OK.

I've also reinstall tcl from source directory (make install)

Some help, please

Can you show me the output of:

$ ls -ld /usr /usr/local /usr/local/lib \
/usr/local/lib/tcl8.4 /usr/local/lib/tcl8.4/init.tcl

My guess would be a permissions-related problem ...

Hi Dossy!

Finally, I did reinstall aolserver and now it works. Right permissions=20
must be:

hostname:~ # ls -ld /usr /usr/local /usr/local/lib /usr/local/lib/tcl8.4=20
/usr/local/lib/tcl8.4/init.tcl
drwxr-xr-x 13 root root 4096 Nov 30 2005 /usr
drwxr-xr-x 17 root root 4096 Sep 16 11:02 /usr/local
drwxr-x--- 3 root root 4096 Sep 15 17:01 /usr/local/lib
drwxr-x--- 8 root root 4096 Sep 15 17:01 /usr/local/lib/tcl8.4
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 22845 Sep 15 17:01 /usr/local/lib/tcl8.4/init.tc=
l

So now, it works. Thanks :-)

Cesareo
