| I've had Apache installed on my Windows XP PC for a few months now as I gain experience building a website for the first time. My PC is behind a firewalled router.
The web site I've built so far is pretty basic but does include a hit counter. Information on each hit is stored in a mysql database.
Considering that I've made no attempt to publicise my website, I'm curious as to the number of hits I'm getting per day. Hits are averaging about 4 a day.
Analysing the ipaddresses of these visitors, I notice that;
a) with a couple of exceptions, all have the same first number of their ipaddress (1st.2nd.3rd.4th) as mine and
b) most also have the same second number as mine.
As much as I like the idea of people visiting my website, I'm curious as to a) how they found me, b) why are they hitting me, c) why are they pretty much all from the same ipaddress group as me? |
