I have a network of 6 computers 1 server running 2003
server and 5 with win 2000 when the workstations are
started the drives map ok & I can browse those drives but
when I try to go to computers near me it says that the
workgroup is unavailable has anyone got any ideas.

What happens if you start all the computers on the network and then walk
away for 15 minutes or so? If you can browse then, you are the victim of a
browse master election process. There's no harm in it - as you know, your
mapped drives work; only browsing the network is unavailable. You can
remedy it by setting one computer (probably the 2003 Server) as the browse
master and disabling browse master on all the other computers - but it
probably isn't worth the hassle.
