Problems trying to run a perl script as a SSI

Being new to Apache, I have set it up correctly so it can run a perl
script as a ssi, but apparently not. No error in the logs and no error
when i bring up the page containing the script. And yes, I have been
through the documentation. So now I at a loss and need your gracious
help here.

The apache version is version 1.3 I believe as it came with SuSE
Linux 8.1.
