Author Manipulating the Location header in HTTP responses

Hi,
I'm running Apache 2.0.49.

Does anybody know if there is a way to modify only a portion of the
Location header in HTTP responses (a.k.a. Content-Location)?

mod_headers unfortunately doesn't seem to provide to functionality I
need...

For example:
- If the Location header contains the extension ABC as in
http://host.xyz.com/test.ABC, I want to modify it to
http://host.xyz.xom/test.DEF

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Pierre
