Hello, I am not sure if I'm in the right place to post this question,
but I was wondering what stats on a computer you guys would recommend
to run Apache webserver.

Here is my current box:

PII 400mhz
128 MB RAM
20 GB, 5400RPM HD
Apache 1.3.24
PHP 4.3.2
Windows XP Pro

Currently, I only host my personal webpage and get 10-15 hits per day.
My goal is to be able to host around 5-10 websites with maybe 500
hits per day, total.

What sort of machine would you guys recommend? Also, is there a good
website that lists varying amounts of hits-per-day along with system
specs of the suggested machine? I'm new to Apache and webhosting in
general, so any suggestions/insight would be appreciated.

This is the wrong bit. Everything else is right.

I'd add some more memory then.

Increase as much as you want.

Go with Linux, especially if this is to be a server only.

My server is a 166MMX, 128MiB RAM. I find it slow only for large log pages
using perl, normal stuff is fine. The speed is limited by my DSL
connection in any case.
