ok, I think I've found a solution:

I have a php script that does the job.
So all I need now is to redirect the requests (GET
/my/directory/anyfile) to:
force-download.php?file=anyfile

I'm reading the mod_rewrite doc, trying to understand how it works...
but it is damn complex (don't dare to tell me it's easy !)

So if anybody with good mod_rewrite skills is kind enough to give me
some hints about a rewriting rule that could do the job... he will have
my eternal gratitude !
