| Need help solving a recurring problem with Apache 2.0.5 running on Win
XP. The server is on the DMZ of a wired router and is running behind
Norton Internet Security 2006. I am using a DNS service to resolve my
dynamic IP to static. And I am also running an FTP server for
uploading. This configuration has worked for over a year. However on
two occassions in the past several months, apache refused to open port
80 and as a result, I receive the "not found" msg when accessing my
site. ( I verified that with Apache running and NIS 2006 disabled, port
80 was still closed). I have not made any changes to apache or any
other software on my server with the exception of automatic live
updates. I have http internet access through the firewalls and can ftp
into my site. I've tried disabling the firewalls for testing. After
reviewing the configuration and logs on both the firewalls and apache,
I didn't find any evidence of hacking.
On the previous failure, I removed power for 2 minutes, from the wired
router and everything worked again. However I believe that it was just
coincidence that everything worked after removing power from the
router, since I had tried that several times. The problem returned 4
days ago and I'm clueless on why it happens.
While finishing up this post, I checked one last time and low and
behold my site is mysteriously back up after 4 days and nobody has
touched the server for several hours.
Anyone with ideas?
