Memory cache in Apache

I want to host more than 1000 photo's, but to be sure there will be no
delay when requesting them from the website with a lot of users at the
same time I want to store them all in a memory cache ?

How do I tell apache to preserve memory for this and how will I load
the photo's in the memory when I start my apache server ?
