Is it possible for me to write something into the .htaccess file to get
the raw access log file saved in the root folder ( or somewhere else )
and all this in gzip? If yes, what do I have to add to the .htaccess
file.

If no, what does the server admin have to add to the httpd.conf file so
I would get the file gziped in my root folder and this on a daily base,
or whenever I request it.

AFAIK, this isn't something you can set up from within Apache's config
files. Why don't you just ask the server admin to let you have read
access to the log file from your account?

No. You need to do that in the logrotation procedure, ask your
sysadmin or your ISP.

Aaah, thanks.

Well, I asked the admin some time ago about providing me the log files
so I can block bad bots properly, but I got a no. I checked last night
some things ( after posting here ) that it's possible to create
seperate log files for every website on a server ( virtual host stuff )
so I could have it.

I have a counter on my website which I modified to give me info almost
like the raw access log file, it's counting the IP address only once. I
can change this to make a log every time a page is loaded ( wether it's
GET or POST ), but this breaks the counter. I should ask him again for
it, because I realy have to know if somebody is playing around with my
website. I guess people try it only, beacue if they would have success
I would have gotten a message from the admin already.

Thanks anyway.

Then you'll have to look for another service provider eventually or
work your issues with your current ISP.
