I use comcast for ISP and have a apache server (Apache/1.3.36) on
Solaris 10 x86. I have a domain name registered and point it to a
dynamic dns domian name just incase my ISP changes my IP. e.g I own
mydomain.com pointed at mydomain.homeunix.net When serving webpages,
browsers correctly display mydomain.com in the URL window and
continues to show the correct servername when descending through my
site. Additionally, I set up virtual domains and they worked too.

I tried the same for a client that had a spare windows box at home,
and when users go to his site, they can enter his domainname but as
soon as they connect they see the dynamic DNS name instead. I forget
which version Apache he is running!

Both servers have ServerName set in the httpd.conf file and have
hostnames set in their /etc/hosts (winnt/system32/drivers/etc/hosts).

What mechanisim determines the hostname displayed by the browser?
What am I overlooking?

Thanks,

Mike D.
