<newbie> what is apache and tomcat?
|
|
|
| Hey
http://tomcat.apache.org/ says apache tomcat is a servlet.
okay... on that webpage it also says "apache tomcat", which hints to me that
this 1 product (not 2 products - apache and tomcat).
I ask because my boss have asked me to install both apache and tomcat on a
server... so I thought before I go about do it should do some research on
both apache and tomcat
any suggestions?

Incorrect, it says that is a "servlet container".

When people say "Apache", they are usually referring to the Apache Http
server (httpd), even though that is an incorrect usage of the name. The
Apache organization has several packages under its umbrella, including
the Http server and the Tomcat servlet container.
