Apart from the obvious load-balancing, data storage, cost etc, what
considerations would I have in trying to decide whether to buy a single
server, or two servers? I'm talking at a web, application and database
server layer.

You may notice by the naivety of the wording, but I'm not very techincally
minded, so go easy.

Thanks

If you run a very expensive software, you'd better buy one big machine
instead of 2.
