System too fast: why?

| I had a Windows ME computer with IE 5.5 and Apache 1.3, php 4 and
MySQL 3. On this system I had large forms for my own use. This went
fine.
Now I have switched to a new computer and also switched to newer
versions of the same software (Windows XP computer with IE 6 and
Apache 2.0.48, php 4 and mysql 4). When a form becomes too large for
its taste it will start displaying part of the screen, but then delete
it and come with a server not found message. This happens rather soon:
with the old computer I had forms 10 to 20 times as large with no
problems.
Does anyone have an idea What may cause this problem and how I can
repair it?

| Some additional information from the Apache logfile (acces.log). What
happens is that the same file is asked again and again, so it never
has time to finish. All lines (except the first one) have been created
by one request. Note that fast requests like the first line give no
problems. In a related problem sometimes the request does finish but
gives an imcomplete page.

Your requests are coming split seconds apart, eh? Do you have a refresh
in the HTML code you are sending down to the browser? Do you have any
URL forwarding in your Apache server that might be redirecting hits to
this page creating a loop?

| I had some extra inspiration for an internet check.
There appears to be an issue between Apache 2 and XP. So I switched
back to Apache 1.3 and the problem was solved.
