Apache installed and running but can't find page on IE
|
|
|
| Forgive my ignorance, I am very noobie.
I have installed Apache 2.x on my Windows XP Home machine.
It seems to have installed correctly and I recieve no errors when it
starts up. The tray Icon says that all Apache services are running.
I then open IE and attempt to look at http://localhost/.
The page states that it can't find that page. Why? Shouldn't this show
the Apache default page that was installed with Apache.
I have been using a Sams Learn in 24 Hours book. So far I have had
nothin but troubles.
Is there anything that I need to do, to look at things via localhost,
other than what I have described so far.
Sorry for the lack of description, but as I said, I am new to this.
Thanks.

try 127.0.0.1

| I have tried that and still it comes back with an error in IE that
says it can't find the page.
I use the Apache MSI package for the install which should configure it
automatically.
Does anyone have any other thoughts as to why this may be happening? I
know I haven't given you much to go on. If there is any additional
information that may help trouble shoot this problem, please be sure
to ask and indicate where I may find that information.
Thanks in advance.
