Hi,
i'm buying one server on Dell.
I have two options at the same price:

1) Single Intel® XeonT 3.0GHz with1MB cache
2) Double Processore Intel® XeonT 2.8GHz / 512KB cache

The server will be used as Web Server (Apache-PHP and Mysql).
Which one should I buy? and why?

many thanks,
A.

It largely depends on the load of the machine. If both your Apache and
MySQL will be fairly loaded, 2-processor machine is a better choice. If
the box will be lightly loaded, one CPU will handle it just fine.

Even if Apache is alone, depending on the load, 2-CPU might be a good
thing. Although, you'll need one hell-of-a connection to swamp Apache's
CPU. Or some Perl/CGI. Or a Tomcat...

Nix.
