Author Info on building large-scale web site

Is there a book or some place on the web that covers the design and
implementation of a large-scale (i.e., a large number of users) web site?
For example, a book that talks about things like clusters, load balancing,
etc. from both a hardware and software perspective. The reason I ask is that
I'm planning to try to launch a commercial web site in the near future and
would like to try to make the right decisions concerning initial hardware
and software purchases. I do realize that there are people who have this
expertise, but I'm hoping that there's also a single source (or at least a
small number of sources) of information available that provides broad
coverage of the various topics.

In case it matters, the web site will be Java (JSP and servlet) based and
use the Apache server with Tomcat.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on where I can find this information.
