Hello,

I am going to be investing in some more servers and I was wondering how a
few people felt about these two I was looking at.

Details:

Processor Intel 3.6GHz Pentium 4 Processor
RAM 1GB RAM
Hard Drive 120GB HDD

or

Processor AMD Athlon64 3200+ Processor
RAM 1GB RAM
Hard Drive 80GB HDD

Price is not an option really. We are willing to pay for the servers. The
prices are good for us. The main thing here is performance.

Which one would handle loads better.

You don't mention what OS you will be running on this new server, it actually would make a difference.

For example if you were using Windows XP I would say the P4, as the AMD64 is supported but not utilized to its full potential, Under Windows 2000 or 2003 its been my personal experience they preform best under P4, XEON or some of the HIGH end AMD non 64bit processors.

You could always try the MS 64-bit beta thats out there now, but if it will be serving anything of importantance then I wouldnt recomend going this route.

If you were going to us Linux, I would recomend Linux or FreeBSD or other u*nx based OS that supports AMD64. Linux does use the 64 processors and IMO acts as a more well behavied host.
