I run XP Home Media addition. I am the computer administrator. In the user group I am also identified as such. Here is the problem. When I attempt to download real player for example, in the final faze it states that I do not have administrative access to the registry. The problem also exsists with other downloads like macromedia flash player. I suspect that I have picked up a parasite via surfing. (There was a prompt while surfing from norton concerning a trojan of some sort infecting my pc. I have run norton in safe mode as well as normal mode with no virus detected and no sucess in correcting the problem. I also ran the debug in safe mode, corrected some other issues, but not this one. I also have no system restore points. I did deactivate system restore earlier this month to do a scan for this trojan in safe mode, didn't find and then I reset system restore, un- checked the box and now when I try system restore again, I have no restore point even for yesterday.) Is there a fairly simple solution to this issue. I don't know if this is important but when I am in control panel under administrative tools under computer managment under local user groups under users it lists a built in administrators account with no name beside it but does not list me as administrator beside my name even though I am listed as such in the regular "manage user accounts" in the control panel. I have run "spyware detector" and found all kinds of crap so I feel sure that the trojan caused the problems because I have had changes in how some of the "favorites" folder sites acted, some needing "flash player" previously opperable but now not. HELP!!!
